We were asked to give some love to this old home. The back porch, as you can see below, was in very bad shape. The screens were falling off and the support structure underneath was no longer supporting the walls or the roof. The house paint was mostly peeled and the front porch needed some railings.

Our first step was to demo the back porch. We installed supports for the roof and then removed everything underneath to include: the old porch, bathroom, tub, toilet, vanity and walls and floors throughout.

Our next step was to reinforce the support structure. We did this by digging holes for the footers and pouring concrete footers and then using 6×6 posts to support new floor framing.

Meanwhile, we also spent time working on the front porch. We removed an old metal railing and installed new wood railings and hand rail for the stairs. We completed this by adding pickets on all the railings.

Once the front railing was complete, the painter came by and primed and painted the entire house. It was impressive to see the difference that the paint made!

On the back porch we continued with flooring and walls and installed a new door and the windows. One of the windows is actually two, old schoolhouse windows that we combined and put into one frame at the customer’s request.

We also finished the interior by putting bead board on the ceiling and LVP flooring inside. Here is a look at the final pictures. It was a massive undertaking but we and the customer think it turned out great!
